idoru

An idoru is a virtual (computer-created) media star. If real pop music stars sometimes seem to become the conception of their producers' dreams, perhaps it would be simpler to start from scratch and design your own media star to perform (think of a fully-developed hologram singing and dancing before tens of thousands of insane fans in Central Park), be interviewed by Rolling Stone , and even evolve and grow older! The idea is explored in the novel, Idoru , by science-fiction writer William Gibson.
